With a Mediterranean climate and so much to see and do, our Ranch is an ideal location for non-hunters to make the most of what this fantastic region has to offer. Napier, less than one hour away, is a seaside art deco city which attracts 1930’s enthusiasts to walk, talk and party.

Many of our guests also enjoy a visit to the world’s largest mainland gannet colony and nesting area on the wild and beautiful Cape Kidnappers. Hawkes Bay New Zealand also boasts world-class golf, art galleries and antiques, Maori heritage, outdoor wilderness experiences and adventure activities to provide an enticing regional experience to really make the most of your time in New Zealand. Ocean Beach Wildlife Preserve offer a fantastic opportunity for guests with a three hour tour visiting coastal areas, native forest areas and the Gannet colony. See New Zealand pigeon’s, tuis, bell birds and warblers, as well as gulls, oyster catchers and of course the famous Gannets at Black Reef. With a keen eye for New Zealand wildlife you may also get the opportunity to view a kiwi bird along with North Island Robins and tomtits that have recently been released into the wildlife preserve at Cape Kidnappers. Eco tours of the gannet colony and coastline are also available until late May.

Horse Treks

Horse Treks are a fun way to see more of Hawke’s Bay with a number of options available. You can take in farmland and forestry or enjoy a scenic coastline ride. Most outfitters have horses to suit your level of experience and rides from an hour to a full day ride. Hot Air Balloons

Experience the joys of hot air ballooning over Hawke’s Bay. Float over farmland, orchards and vineyards and soak in the backdrop of distant mountain ranges. Flights take place during the first few hours of daylight and are dependent on weather conditions. Flights last approximately 1 hour but allow 4 hours total excursion time.

Paragliding

For the daring! Soar off and along the cliffs of Te Mata Peak, enjoying the panoramic views of the Tuki Tuki river valley below. On a clear day you may even see majestic snow capped Mount Ruapehu. Tandem flights are available, lasting approximately 15 minutes, however you will need to allow 3 hours for the total excursion.

Maori Heritage Tours

Maori are New Zealand’s native people possessing a proud and powerful culture and heritage. Visit a Marae (Maori Village), experience a Powhiri (Maori welcome) and drink in the words of the tribal elders. The Hook of Maui, The Te Mata Peak Legend and Pania of the Reef are but a few of the captivating stories they will share.

Guided White Water Rafting

Put on your life vest and enjoy a day of white water rafting on the Mohaka river.  On the gentle stretches between rapids, take in the breathtaking scenery. This is a day designed for guests with a sense of adventure, and it is recommended to try this during the warmer months of February – late April. Rapids range from relatively gentle to steep drops. A full day tour.

What would a trip to a far away country be without a few special mementos to take home? In ‘The Bay’ we can take you to the wool factory and store, the possum store, souvenir shops, antique shops, galleries and clothing boutiques.

Tours can range from short excursions to a few wineries where you can get a taste of the local styles with a picnic lunch, right through to a full day experience which will take you into the cellars of some of New Zealand’s top wineries with the opportunity to enjoy an impressive culinary experience at one of the award winning winery restaurants.

Scenic Helicopter Flights

We can arrange scenic Helicopter Flights, these can include being collected from Napier airport and being flown to the ranch, a tour of the stunning coastline surrounding Cape Kidnappers or fly over Hawke’s Bay’s picturesque vineyards, orchards and farmland.
